Gunjan Bhow is a renowned global digital executive, Fortune 50 business leader, and a board member. Gunjan brings deep experience in transforming large-scale businesses into customer-centric, AI-enabled and product-led enterprises, with a particular focus on retail/commerce, financial services, and healthcare. Gunjan has had the unique experience of leading major innovations at two multi-trillion-dollar companies (Amazon and Microsoft) and two iconic Dow Jones 30 member companies (The Walt Disney Company and Walgreens Boots Alliance). Gunjan has led the development of products and led businesses that have reached over 300 million consumers worldwide and produced more than $100 billion in revenue.
At Amazon, Bhow led the teams to create several ground-breaking product categories and businesses at Amazon including Amazon Echo, Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, as well as launching Amazon Studios. At Disney, Bhow pioneered Disney’s direct-to-consumer transformation which led to the development and release of Disney+, now a global streaming service reaching over 130 million subscribers. At Walgreens Boots Alliance, Bhow served on the global management team of an organization with over $130 billion in revenue and 410,000 employees in 25 countries. As the Global Chief Digital Officer, Bhow led the digital transformation of a business spanning healthcare, pharmacy, and retail. In particular, Bhow led the digital operations of 12,000 global locations delivering innovations to more than 100 million consumers including COVID vaccines, telehealth, food retail, subscription programs, and branded credit cards.
In his non-executive director capacity, Bhow has served on the boards of REI, America’s tenth largest retailer; BUPA, a global healthcare and financial services provider serving 16 million customers on all five continents; OneCall, a leading healthcare benefit management organization backed by major private equity firms including KKR and Blackstone; Chemonics, the largest international development enterprise operating in 100+ countries, and WideOpenWest (WOW), a publicly listed sixth largest broadband provider in North America. Bhow has chaired finance and digital committees at various boards; served on risk, audit, and compensation committees. At WOW, Bhow served on a Special Committee of the board that represented the board during a $1.5 billion take-private transaction. Bhow Bhow currently serves on the board of directors at The British Broadcasting Corporation.
Bhow is a frequent global speaker on issues relating to strategy development, operationalizing and culture-building to enable customer-centricity and digital transformation. Bhow has delivered keynotes at digital transformation and innovation conferences in over a dozen countries globally. Bhow holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
