Nirapon Awarded Funding by Lloyd's Register Foundation Global Safety Evidence Centre

We’re pleased to share that Nirapon is one of several organizations awarded funding through the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Global Safety Evidence Centre, selected through a competitive call for proposals.

The Foundation draws on more than 250 years of maritime and industrial safety expertise and is one of the world’s leading safety charities, investing in research, evidence, and innovation to make the world safer. Its Global Safety Evidence Centre exists to collate, create, and communicate the best available evidence on what works to keep people safe.

With this funding, Columbia University and the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University, in partnership with Nirapon, will run a randomized controlled trial — widely regarded as the gold standard for impact evaluation — with more than 300 manufacturers in Bangladesh, most of them garment factories.

The research will assess whether Nirapon’s capability-building approach through education and training strengthens occupational safety and health culture, worker safety awareness, and business performance.

Nirapon’s Safety Management Program supports factories through safety reports every 90 days, on-site Safety Support Visits, training for factory safety personnel, and a confidential helpline for workers to raise concerns.

The study will run over the next two years, with results expected in 2028. We look forward to sharing what we learn.
