Improving Safety Reporting: Updated 90-Day and SSV Reporting Approach

Improving Safety Reporting: Updated 90-Day and SSV Reporting Approach

By Rick Ogden, Director of Worker Safety, Nirapon

An updated approach to safety reporting and engagement was introduced across all Nirapon participating factories on January 1. Developed following a pilot program and feedback from key stakeholders, the revised approach simplifies reporting while strengthening the clarity and usefulness of safety analysis.

Dhaka, January 2026 — Nirapon maintains regular oversight of factory safety performance through both its 90-day reporting process and in-person Safety Support Visits (SSVs). Factories submit key safety information on an ongoing basis (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly), which is formally reviewed and analyzed by Nirapon’s Safety Analyst Team every 90 days. In addition, SSVs provide an in-person review of safety performance, with a written report produced following each visit. Together, these processes help identify emerging risks, highlight areas requiring attention, and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken where necessary.

Following a pilot of the revised reporting format in September last year, which included representation from key stakeholder groups such as the Member Engagement Committee, participating factories, and the Nirapon team, the reporting approach was reviewed to ensure it remained clear, structured, and effective for both factories and member brands. Working closely with the Safety Analyst Team, the reporting format was redesigned to simplify the structure while improving the clarity and consistency of the analysis produced through the program.

The updated format is now applied across both 90-day reports and SSV reports, presenting safety information in a clearer and more structured way. This helps both factories and member brands better understand the findings and identify areas where further improvement may be needed. The revised reports are designed to make key information easier to read while maintaining the rigor required to support effective safety oversight.

Alongside the updated reporting approach, Nirapon has also introduced an additional step to strengthen engagement with factories. Following both the release of each 90-day report and SSV report, a member of the Safety Analyst Team now conducts a follow-up call with the factory to walk through the findings, answer questions, and discuss any areas where further attention may be required. This is a new addition to the process and provides an opportunity for factories to better understand the analysis and supports more constructive dialogue around safety improvements.

Since the full rollout of the updated reporting approach on January 1, feedback from member brands, factories, and the Nirapon team has been extremely positive. Many have noted that the revised format and engagement approach are clearer, easier to navigate, and more effective in communicating key findings.

These improvements reflect Nirapon’s continued commitment to strengthening the tools and processes that support effective safety oversight across the program.
