Chemical Safety Training Video Rolled Out To Partner Factories

Chemical Safety Training Video Rolled Out To Partner Factories

By Mehdi Khan

In response to the spate of recent chemical-related incidents in Bangladesh, Nirapon quickly produced a chemical safety video for all our partner factories. The short, ‘Masterclass’ video, discussed how to strengthen chemical storage and management. The timely and important videos were produced in Bangla and English and highlighted again during the three town halls in Dhaka in late November.

The 12-minute safety video (and in-person, Town Hall events) highlighted the most common risks associated with flammable liquids, combustible dust, aerosols, and other scenarios related to poor storage practices, unsafe electrical arrangement and unsafe maintenance work near chemicals in industrial settings.

Factories were guided on practical steps using the Hierarchy of Controls model, from safer chemical substitution to engineering controls, clear SOPs, proper labelling, spill management, using the correct fire extinguishers and appropriate PPE.

Nirapon’s safety analysts also reminded factories of the importance of safer chemical storage areas, proper ventilation, regular housekeeping, waste handling, emergency drills, and ensuring that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) sheets are available and understood by all factory workers.

The goal of the training video is simple: build greater awareness, strengthen daily discipline, and train staff to prevent chemical accidents before they occur. Through continued guidance, knowledge sharing and ongoing collaboration, Nirapon aims to continue supporting partner factories to create safer, more resilient workplaces for all workers.
